Week 11 - Transfers

My weekly this week is super short, but its Transfers!!! I am so lucky and my companion and I didn't get transferred. This letter this week is super short, but we had one new person being taught, who we started teaching Sunday night! Prayers were answered that night. We also finally had someone at church! Yay!!! Nothing else super new, just excited for this next transfer. My thought this week comes from Moroni 7. Its verse 41: "And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him..." I was shown this scripture after two weeks of not teaching anyone. It was frustrating and hard. But my companion reminded me that we have hope for a better future because of Christ. Its through His Atonement that we are able to change and the fact we can change is what gives us hope! I am forever grateful for that and fi...

Week 10 - Ask in Faith, Nothing Wavering and it Will Be Given

Hola! So this week was a really good week! We didn't have anyone new that we are teaching, but we still had a good week anyways! We had another sad thing happen this week. We had someone else not want to meet with us. Remember N who was getting baptized? He ran into some stuff online that made him question what he was learning, so he has decided to stop meeting with us. That was really hard, but we just have to get back on our feet and keep moving forward. Other than that, nothing much has happened that I remember very well. I do want to say thank you to all of you who sent me emails this week! I love hearing about what's going on in your lives and your testimonies. It makes my days a bit lighter and the work seem easier. I do want to leave you all with a thought about prayer and what to do when we have questions. I have had experiences this week that have strengthened my testimony about God answering prayers. I have had some questions that not only have other people aske...

Week 9 - Through faith in Christ nothing is Impossible

Hola! This week has been wonderful! We had a lot of amazing things happen this week, even though it's been a bit of a rough week finding wise. Remember N from last week? He's getting baptized on the 25th! We've met with him several times already this past week and we definitely believe that God led us to one of His elect! He has already said that he feels like he already has learned this before. (When he said that me and my companion looked at each other and nearly fell out of our seats.) We have also been in contact with a few other people as well and we have faith that at some point some of them will accept the fullness of the truth! We did have one sad thing happen, someone we were teaching (who we were sure was going to be baptized) told us that they didn't want to meet with us anymore. She and her husband really want to be on the same page spiritually and he's worried that won't happen if they go to different churches. We definitely miss teaching her, but...

Week 8 - Buses and colds lead to miracle

Hi Everyone!! This has been a good week for us! Almost everyone we were teaching is gone, not responding, or in Mexico, but that's okay! Heavenly Father needed us to meet other people and focus on them. We met a man named N on a bus and gave him our number. He texted us later that evening then came to a New Years'  breakfast and the ward here loved him! Another person we found is this older woman named E! She's a grandma who met missionaries down in So. Cal. (Southern California) before she moved up here. We met her the day after she moved into her apartment, which is closer to ours. We really were supposed to meet them both.  We also had Zone Conference this week and it really focused on the new Missionary Handbook. It did come out last month, but because it was Christmas our mission president wanted us to focus on Light the World. I love this new handbook! It focuses so much love and common sense and how we can better be disciples of Jesus Christ. I walked out of that...

IT WAS CHRISTMAS!!

Week 7 - Technically this is week 10. . . oh well. I loved this week. IT WAS CHRISTMAS!! Okay no more yelling, but I really loved this week. I'm still sick. . . and yes it has been almost over a month and yes I'm seeing a doctor, so no one panic. We had a pretty slow week because it was Christmas, but amazing things still happened. We met a woman who had just moved in and met missionaries in Southern California, where she had lived before! It was honestly magical. She came to church and loved it and loved that she could listen to the Book of Mormon! Other than her most of the people we are teaching are gone until January visiting family. But that's okay, we were then able to focus on those who needed us right then. Heavenly Father will help work things out. We spent Christmas Eve and Day at several members houses. They were so kind and made those days even better. We've gotten so much food and treats from members though. It's made it really hard to be healthy. ...

Week 7 - Merry Christmas!!!

Hello everyone! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! This is one of my favorite times of the year. I've always loved the lights, being with family, and the spirit that you feel. It always makes me so happy. Our Mission President allowed all us missionaries to watch a movie today. We chose to watch The Polar Express! It is one if my favorite Christmas movies. The best part about that movie is the message of the movie (and the music). The whole message is that believing isn't seeing. It's exactly what faith is, believing without seeing. I've had an interesting experience with faith so far. Everything you do on a mission is based on your faith. Finding people, teaching lessons, talking to people, preparing for lessons, and bearing testimony. I've had to learn quickly (and I'm still struggling with it) to be completely faithful and rely on Heavenly Father for everything. The baptisms and conformations, all by faith. The people we've found and the lessons we've taught, f...

Week 6 - baptisms

This week was absolutely amazing and ended on two even more amazing notes. We started teaching 5 new people this week. It was nuts! We definitely didn't think we'd get that many and honestly Heavenly Father did most of the work, we just get to participate in helping them along the covenant path. On Sunday we had two baptisms after church! They were two siblings, 9 and 11, named A and K. Teaching them and helping them to get on the covenant path has been amazing and I'm so excited to continue to help be a guide. They get confirmed this next Sunday before Christmas and I'm looking forward to other people we are teaching getting to see that happen! The rainy season is in full swing, aka winter. As were on bikes it's been fun to deal with that and then no fenders, but luckily we just got fenders!! Wahoo! I'm so excited not to have a stripe of water, oil, and dirt up my back and on my backpack. But I have been learning a really big lesson. That even though you ...
